Fun Facts

Hello everybody!! Hope this email finds you all well and happy!! This week has been pretty good. Nothing super major happened, but it has been interesting...

Fun Fact #1: The UK is no longer part of Europe. They had a vote this past week to see whether they would remain or leave, and the decision was to leave. The Scottish people wanted to stay, so they aren't too happy about the decision. This will probably lead to another vote for Scottish independence. Not too sure if this will happen while I am still on my mission, but we will wait and see!

Fun Fact #2: The 25th of June marked Elder Cluster's Hump Day!! In celebration, we went to Lady Bay and he burned one of his shirts. I also burned a shirt and a tie for my 6 month and year mark that I missed. Looking forward to burning a pair of trousers to mark 18 months pretty soon!!

Fun Fact #3: We have a baptism this week!! Our two investigators, Emma and Rachael, will be getting baptised on Saturday. We are super excited for both of them. Emma asked me to baptise her, so I am really honoured to do that. What makes it an even cooler experience is that we are doing it in the ocean so that will be a once in a lifetime experience. Not too many missionaries can say they have done that!!!

Fun Fact #4: For P-day last week, Elder Cluster and I went to the Mull of Galloway. This is the most southern point of Scotland. Now I can say that I have been to the farthest north point (when I was in Thurso) and the farthest south.

Fun Fact #5: This week is moves. I am pretty nervous, because we are pretty sure that Elder Cluster will be leaving since he has been here for 6 months. This means a new companion for Elder Wilson. I am excited to see what's going to happen, but also a bit sad. Elder Cluster has been a great companion, and it has been a pleasure to serve with him.

Well, I think that is all the news I have for this week! Looking forward to a great week this week and some hopefully good news on Sunday for moves! Thank you all for your love and support! Love you all!! Stay awesome and keep moving forward!!

Fishers of Men

June 20, 2016

This week was a week of fishing in both senses of the word! On Monday, we did some actual fishing. Our friend from the Czech Republic, Martin, had some stuff for it and asked if we wanted to go to the pier to try for some mackerel. Why not? After Elder Cluster spent about 40 minutes with his line in the water, he finally caught two, 10" mackerel!!! We were pretty excited. We were deciding whether or not we wanted to take them home to cook them, but ended up voting against it. We threw them back, and after being in the water for about 5 seconds, a seagull came down and ate one of the fish we had just thrown back. What a crappy way to spend your last minutes of life.

We also did some fishing for investigators...and we caught two of them as well!! This week we starting teaching a couple named James and Suzy. They are so good! They both have so many questions that can be answered by the gospel, and say that all of what we teach makes total sense. They also have two sons, one 10 and the other 11, who are both interested in religion and finding out about who God is, so we are hopefully going to start teaching them this week as well. James and Suzy also committed to be baptised on the 9th of July, which is super good!!!

Also seeing a lot of success with our current investigators, especially Emma and Rachael. They are sisters (one 19 and the other 18) and friends of our recent convert Dayna. We have been teaching them since I first got to the area, and they are preparing to be baptised on the 2nd of July!!! We are super stoked for that! They have had some amazing experiences with the gospel and the Spirit and are both so prepared to take this next step! We are so happy for them both.

Yesterday was a pretty interesting day at church as we had some visitors. Out of nowhere, Michael and Elaine from Falkirk show up in Stranraer to come and visit me!! I haven't seen either of them since October of last year, so this was a pretty sweet reunion! It was so great getting to catch up with them and just being able to spend time with them. They also brought Michael's son, Mark, who is also getting ready to be baptised! It was a pretty good day!

Hmmm.....What Happened?

June 13, 2016

Hello all! Well, I am going to be completely honest. There wasn't too much that happened this week. It always seems that right after a baptism, things die down for a little bit and then pick back up again, and that is exactly what happened. We did do a bit of teaching, but it was slower than in weeks past. All of our investigators are doing pretty good, but are all still a bit hesitant to commit to baptism. If you could all pray for that, that would be much appreciated.

I guess the highlight of the week would be going on exchanges with the Zone Leaders. For the 5th time on my mission, I went on an exchange with Elder Novotny. He is from the Czech Republic and is pretty cool! It's funny, he was my zone leader when I was in Motherwell at the beginning of my mission and we went on exchanges. Now he is my zone leader and this is his last transfer. He saw me be born, and now I am seeing him die. Weird how missions work.

Well......yeah. That is pretty much it with me. Sorry that this isn't too exciting, but they can't all be.

I Like to Look For Rainbows

June 6, 2016

This week has been really good, especially this weekend. On Saturday, we were able to have the amazing opportunity to baptise one of our friends, Vicky. She is such an amazing person, and she was so prepared to make this step. The service was so good as well. I think this is the first time when I saw in visual change in someone after being baptised. She looked so happy and just radiant after coming up out of the water. When I asked her how she felt afterward, she said that she felt as though a weight had been lifted off her shoulders! So amazing! On Sunday, we then confirmed her a member and she received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Again, such an amazing spiritual experience! Vicky loves the gospel and has truly recognised the blessings that can come from it, and this gift will just make that even better!

I am so grateful for this gospel and the change that it can  bring in people. Even though I have grown up in the church, and I have truly come to witness that change in myself as I have become fully converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that it is the path, the only path, that will lead us back to our Father in Heaven, and that He will help us to get there! I love this gospel more than I can describe and am grateful that I have these 2 years to help other people find that love and that happiness that comes from this wonderful truth!
